Denise Hawrysio has taken the back room — a dark alcove, enclosed on three sides — and laid a fresh floor of concrete. Into the new cement, she’s cut a narrow trench, only a few inches deep: wall lights play on the rough surface of the concrete, picking out the gouge, turning grey on white to warm beige and gold. Lots of artists similarly aspire to change a space, to heighten one’s sense of standing within the art, but few achieve it with this economy of means. — Rose Jennings, Time Out
